Information Services Inc. (“Information Services Inc.”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) operates governmentgrants.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

Important: Independence from government

GovernmentGrants.com is a private, independently-operated informational website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the United States government, the Government of Canada, or any federal, state, provincial, or local government agency. The Site does not accept, process, or submit grant applications on your behalf. All official grant applications must be submitted directly through the relevant government agency or its authorized portal (such as Grants.gov in the United States).

What this Site is — and is not

GovernmentGrants.com is an informational website that publishes general information about government grant programs, eligibility guidance, and links to official government grant resources. We are not a government agency, a grant administrator, a grant writer, a consultant, or an attorney. We do not award grants, process grant applications, charge fees for access to grant information that is freely available from the government, or guarantee that any reader will receive a grant. The Site does not require registration, does not have user accounts, and does not collect payment information.

Information we collect

Because the Site has no accounts or checkout, the information we collect is limited to what is necessary to operate the Site, understand how it is used, and serve advertising. Specifically:

Information you provide directly. If you email us through the contact address listed above or fill out a contact form, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use that information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to a marketing list.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider and analytics tools automatically receive standard web log data, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type and operating system, referring URL, the pages you view on the Site, and the date and time of each request. This information is used to monitor Site performance, detect abuse, and understand aggregate usage patterns.

Information from cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies, browser local storage, and similar technologies to remember your preferences and to support advertising and analytics. See the Cookies section below and our separate Cookie Policy for details.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, dates of birth, household income, or other sensitive personal or financial information. If any third party claiming to represent GovernmentGrants.com asks you for such information in connection with a grant, it is not us — please report it to us at the address above.

How we use the information

We use the information described above to:

Operate, maintain, and improve the Site. Respond to inquiries you send us. Monitor traffic patterns and detect technical problems, fraud, and abuse. Serve and measure advertising, including through Google AdSense and other advertising partners. Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

We do not sell personal information.

Advertising and Google AdSense

The Site is supported by display advertising. We participate in Google AdSense, which is operated by Google LLC.

Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or to other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and other sites on the internet. Specifically:

Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie and similar identifiers to serve advertising. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You may also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info (Digital Advertising Alliance) or, for EEA and UK users, www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Google’s privacy practices are described in its Privacy & Terms page.

We may use additional advertising and analytics partners over time. When we do, those partners’ use of cookies and similar technologies will be governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Third-party advertising on a grants-information site

Some advertisements served on the Site by Google AdSense or other ad networks may be for products or services from third parties unrelated to GovernmentGrants.com. The presence of an advertisement on the Site is not an endorsement by us. We have no control over the specific advertisers selected by Google AdSense for display on any given page.

In particular, be cautious of advertisements that:

Promise guaranteed grant approval, offer paid “grant finder” services for information that is freely available from the government, charge fees to fill out grant applications, or ask for personal financial information up front. Many such offers are scams. Official US federal grant information is available for free at Grants.gov. Canadian federal grant information is available for free at Canada.ca. Always verify any offer against the official government source before paying money or providing personal information.

Cookies

We use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:

Strictly necessary. Required for the Site to function (for example, remembering your cookie preference choices).

Functional. Remember your preferences within a session.

Analytics. Help us understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate.

Advertising. Used by Google AdSense and other advertising partners to deliver and measure ads, including personalized advertising.

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as described here:

Service providers. We share information with vendors who help us operate the Site, such as our hosting provider, content delivery network, analytics provider, and advertising partners. These providers are bound by contract to use the information only to provide services to us.

Advertising partners. As described in the Advertising section, Google AdSense and similar partners receive information through cookies and similar technologies in order to serve and measure advertising.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.

Business transfers. If Information Services Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information about Site visitors may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honor the commitments in this Privacy Policy.

Data retention

Web log data is retained for up to 14 months and then deleted or aggregated. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of the analytics provider, typically no more than 26 months. Email correspondence is retained as long as reasonably necessary to provide support and address follow-up questions, and then deleted on a routine schedule.

International transfers

Information Services Inc. is based in Canada. The Site is hosted by service providers that may store and process data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. By using the Site, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one in which you reside, including countries whose data protection laws may differ from those of your home country.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at infoservicesinc@gmail.com with the subject line “Privacy Request” and describe your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

For California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

Know what categories of personal information we collect, the sources, the business purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it. Request a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you. Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions. Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense. However, the use of advertising cookies described above may be considered “sharing” under California law. You can opt out of advertising cookies through the controls described in the Advertising section. To submit any other CCPA request, email infoservicesinc@gmail.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request”.

For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you the following rights with respect to your personal data: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing.

The legal bases on which we process your personal data are: our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Site, and in funding the Site through advertising; your consent, where required, for non-essential cookies and personalized advertising; and compliance with legal obligations.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any GDPR right, email infoservicesinc@gmail.com.

For Canadian residents (PIPEDA)

Canadian residents have rights to access and correct personal information held about them, subject to limited exceptions. To exercise these rights, email infoservicesinc@gmail.com.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email infoservicesinc@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the limited information we collect. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no industry standard for how to respond to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. You can control tracking through the cookie and advertising opt-outs described above.

Links to other sites

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including official government grant portals and other informational resources. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any third-party website. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent changes were made. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
